(including sitework & swimming pool) Design Team: Mechanical, Electrical & Fire Protection Engineers: Lehigh Valley Engineering, Bethlehem, PA Structural Engineer: D’Huy Engineering, Inc, Bethlehem, PA Construction Manager: The Norwood Company, Allentown, PA Contract Amount: $ 1,618,654 Project Description: Well known cardiologist Dr. James Pantano and his wife Penny a licensed professional nurse, decided to invest in the construction and operation of a private instructional swimming and rehabilitation facility they named the SWIM-IN ZONE. Architecture FURST teamed with The Norwood Construction Company to design the 9,000 square foot facility located in Stabler Business Park, Saucon Valley, PA. The facility includes a 1,900 sq ft., 86 degree crystal clear water, designed primarily for teaching swimming. The instruction area has 30 feet of steps and is 3.5 ft. deep that provides small children and adults the security of shallow water along its length. The three 25 yard swimming lanes are 4' to 5' deep and permits recreational and rehabilitation lap swimming. The facility also includes a multi-purpose room with vision glass into the pool in order for parents to observe instruction. The room can also hold swimming parties and other functions. Locker rooms, offices and a retail store complete the design. Both the building and the site layout permit an additional pool to be constructed in the future. |
